My 1995 Pathfinder recently started having white smoke coming out of the tailpipe and emitting a strong gas smell when taking off. We thought it might be the fuel sensor but replaced it and did not help. Any suggestions?

Icon 06-09-2005, 02:29 AM are you sure its white? that sounds strange because if its fuel, its usually blackish. white smoke usually signifies an antifreeze leak into the cylinders. get a leakdown and a compression test done to see if maybe your headgasket is blown. Patrick 06-09-2005, 05:17 PM you can also have someone look to see if there is water in your oil/ oil in your coolant... Icon 06-09-2005, 06:51 PM when my head gasket in my civic was going, i never got the oil/water mix. it just used a little water, and i had to top it off every couple of days. but if the oil is milky white, you have your answer. |
