I have a 1997 Nissan Altima GXE whichs need a new CV joint from the drivers side. I have called a Nissan dealership and provided my VIN number to have them tell which part was needed and if my car has a limited slip differential, but they could not tell from the VIN number. Another mechanic looked at my car and said he would first need to take out the axle to tell. Does anyone know of a way to tell if my car has a limited slip differential?

Get the transmission code off of the tag under your hood and call the nisan dealer back, or you can jack up the front of the car and see if 1 wheel spins or 2.
