I am hearing an intermittent clunk from the rearend when I am driving the car. I believe it to be the needle bearings on the u joint but I don't know for sure. Any suggestions?

Any suggestions? dman300tt 11-14-2007, 10:25 PM i had a noise like that in a couple of z's i owned, and 85 and 84 i found out that was the rear differential mount had actually seperated causing on take off or hard shifting to cause the loud clunk, but mine was more of a knock than a clunk.you can check this by putting it over apit and have someone hold the brake and step on the gas, you'll see it seperate and lift up and hear the knock when it comes back together when the weight falls back on it.my 2 cents yogidapimp58 06-30-2008, 08:51 PM if u still have the noise problem. its your wheel bearings. my car made the same noise, because my wheel bearing was bad. and best to do both sides. the back you have to take it to someone. the fronts are easy. nismo89Z 06-30-2008, 11:43 PM yeah i had the same problem with my 87 & 89, i had gone to a muffler shop to get my exhaust set up...fortunatly i had a friend who worked there and he warned me about it. he said he would weld it for me but i never went back though. Roberto 08-07-2008, 10:06 PM that noise is gonna be your rear axle nizmofool 09-04-2008, 07:44 PM OR MAYBE ITS MAKING THAT NOISE BECAUSE ITS SO DAMN OLD!!!?? |
