I have a 2002 Nissan Maxima - Automatic and while I was driving today the engine hesitated like it was going to die then the check engine light flashed on and back off and the car seemed to have lost some power then I noticed that the RPM / Tachometer was not working. The gage was on zero while I was accelerating. When I turned the car off it would not crank. It will make noise like it wants to but does not crank. I gave it a little gas but did not want to flood the engine. Still have not been able to get it to crank. Please if someone has this problem or had and has any idea whats wrong and how to fix it, let me know.

Have you checked the battery ?

 

Yeah its not that because all of my lights work ... and if you try long enough it will crank... just afraid that it may be tearing something up to keep pressing the gas while trying to crank it. . I had it towed to the shop yesterday so hopefully they will be able to figure something out...

Just in case anyone was wondering or having the same problems ...... mine was the crank shaft position sensor and now my car is running perfectly..
