Infiniti debuts G37 sedan and G37x coupe.
Infiniti used this year’s Monterey show to show off some of their latest efforts. While there are no stunning new models, there have been some subtle changes to the G37 sedan that have only gone to improve a nicely designed car.
The biggest news was the debut of the G37x coupe, and like many other European and Asian based models, that “x” signifies the addition of all wheel drive. That AWD system if not your ordinary “adapted from an suv” layout, but rather the G37x coupe features Nissan’s ATTESSA E-TSO system. This system was originally designed for use in their performance models, mainly the Nissan Skyline. Since the 1980s, Nissan has been developing this AWD system to produce supreme handling and ride quality, and that amount of research and development shows, as the ATTESSA system is regarded as being among the best in the world.
When mated to the new seven speed automatic transmission, the 3.7L V6 found in the G37 sedan and G37x coupe makes 303 horsepower, and with a slight increase in power also comes an increase of around 1 mile per gallon in the vehicles running that drivetrain.
The Monterey show also had some hints that we can expect to see the M35 series receiving the 3.7L engine within the next few years, but for now Infiniti enthusiasts should be very happy with the subtle changes to the sedan and the addition of the ATTESSA system to the G37 coupe.
