I saw the drawing you are talking about and it looks like that control unit is located left of the stearing console, which is not the area the "tick" is coming from. However, it sounds like you're a tech and have taken this console apart, so i'll take your word for it. I am pretty pissed about paying $200 for nothing, when i could have paid $400 to have the problem fixed....i'm not even going to call the dealership and instead use the 800nissan1 number to try and get a credit that i can use at a dealership closer to where i have relocated. If i can't get a credit for the amount i paid, then the certified letter to Nissan HR will begin....

I cannot pinpoint the exact location with the drawing I have either......personally have not replaced that before in a 2001. You won't be able to get a credit from a different dealer, but they may be able to work something out so you don't have to drive back to them. Good luck !
