Have an 02 Sentra GXE 1.8L. It's my commuter car so I need it to work. For the most part this car has been performance perfect. I've owned it for 10+ years with only a issues driving it at least 200 miles a week. One was a blown head gasket in the first 4 years I had it. That was a pretty easy job since I've done several HG's on my Jeeps and my older Camry. So, now the new problem with my Sentra.

Car runs great, until it doesn't. Driving, running fine, out of the blue, it starts choking. feels like it's running out of gas. The tach fluctuates wildly. I pull over, turn it off, hook up my scanner...no codes. I start it back up, rev it a few times, drive home at highway speed another 12 miles, no problem. This has happened to me twice. I've hit it with the scanner for "pending codes" and finally got P0303. Misfire cyl 3. But that code has never set as a current code.

I HAVE : tested the injectors, replaced plugs, tested the coils, swapped the coils, the pump is running when I turn the the key on. I checked the wiring each coils harness for bare or shorted, wires, bad connections, etc.

I HAVEN'T: checked the fuel pressure or the the fuel pressure regulator,

I can't get it to replicate the symptom, unless I'm 20 miles from home, I can't get it to repeat the code just driving around the block or around town. Any ideas?
