Can a P0420 code be caused by dirty EGR valve?

Got a P0420 code but also shakes periodically at idle. Have read before on here that shakey/rough idle can be cause by dirty EGRV. Haven’t checked O2 sensor yet but thinking the problems have merged. would appreciate any feed back.
