Default Cv Axle removal Help!

So I need to replace my CV axle on my 98Nissan 200sx.At the auto store they didnt sell 200sx model haynes repair manuals, and I wasnt sure if the same year sentra would be the same thing. I bought a new cv axle and began disassembling the calipers, wheel hub assembly, and part of the control arm.

I got the outer end of the cv axle free, but it appears the inner part (connected to transmittion) doesnt want to pull out. I read in the instructions that there might be a spring ring right at the spindle. It tells me to...

"Use a prybar inserted between the CV-joint housing and the transaxle housing to pry the inboard joint assembly straight out of the differential case."

To me that translated as use a crowbar inbetween the inner cv boot and the transmittion where the spindle is housed. The crossmember makes it difficult to reach and I had my car jacked up on the factory jack with no stands, so i didnt want to stay under my car too long.

So my question is how do i disengage the spring ring or whatever to remove my cv axle?

Thanks

well it sounds like you already damaged the outer cv boot by yanking it off. well you have to do exactly what you posted you just pry between the inner cv housing and the transmission and it should just pop out. you can also try taking a long pry bar and use it as a chisel on the inner cv housing and use a hammer and hit the pry bar outwards away from the tranny and it should pop out with a few love taps. and also you didnt have to take the brakes off to remove the axle just for your information.

I suggest you to get some assistant or help from someone who really know how to do it... like that you already damage the outer cv body.
