N16 Almera LCD Clock/Trip/Mileage Illumination
 

LCD clock /mileage/trip recorder still functions correctly except that it fails to illuminate, can't read at night - all other normal instruments are still lighting up - no details regards this in handbook - is there a bulb that provides light to LCD screen or is it likely to be an LCD fault? What are the likely cures without losing mileage details etc? Car is 2001 UK spec N16 1500 Almera 1.5 5door Hatch S model. Any advice appreciated.

Hi,

At the moment still haven't got it working, have spoken with a franchised dealer who normally services the car and they have said it may be a bulb, but obviously have to remove instrument panel from dash before they can be sure, otherwise it may be a fault within the LCD display. I don't want to remove panel unless absolutely neccessary, so will wait till it is due next service and get them to sort it then unless anyone has any definate suggestions.
