Sensor light
This is a great forum. I'm wondering if anyone out there could help me with some info. I have a 1986 Nissan 720 2 wheel drive pickup. It has the 2389 cc 4 cyl Z24i engine. My truck just turned over 100,000 miles on the odometer. The (sensor) light in the dash is on. Does this refer to the O2 sensor in particular, or could it be any of the other sensors? Did the odometer trigger the sensor light or did the computer trigger the light? How do I get the light to go off? I did replace the O2 sensor before the odometer turned over 100,000 miles. Next question, if the computer triggered the sensor light, how do I pull the codes to determine what sensor needs to be replaced? Thanks for your help.

RE: Sensor light
mine did the same thing last year. i also changed the o2 sensor, but that didn't help. it turned out being the catalytic converter. autozone can clear the code for you, or you can just buy the code scanner and do it yourself.

RE: Sensor light
bring it to autozone and have them pull the code so you have an idea about what triggered the check engine light and if it was the o2 sensor then have them delete it since you replaced it. but rule of thumb never trow parts on a car until you know its going to fix it other wise your going to empty you wallet pretty quick by guessing whats wrong. there is one way you can turn off the check engine light without a scanner, you dissconnect your negative battery cable and let it sit for about 30 min and it should turn off but if the problem isnt fixed its going to come back on.
