Service engine soon light.... need advice

I have a 2002 Sentra with 22K miles on it...The service engine soon light is on...otherwise the car runs perfectly. I took it in today to a local Nissan dealership and was told that the service engine soon light was on due to an internal failure within the ECU/PCM. Poor ground causing the light to come on and that I must replace the ECU/PCM at a cost of $670. I declined the repair of the ECU and went to a local auto store to have the codes pulled.... P1444 and P0031.

Additionally, the dealership told me that I needed to replace the battery because it only tested at 282CCA.

Does this sound right? I just got the feeling that I should run very fast from this place.

Thanks,
Selena

heres what those codes mean and there is nothing there that say a bad pcm/ecu. but your battery is going bad if its only 281cca cause it should be around 550+cca
