Through-out-bearing nightmare

Through-out-bearing nightmare
This would just happen to happen on halloween night! i was driving and all of a sudden my car quit accelerating.
So, I pull off engine still running fine, then I go to put it in first with the clutch depressed and it did nothing but grind!
With the engine off I CAN put it in gear. My buddy tells me it sounds like the problem is most likly the throw-out-bearing w/in the trasmission might have gone bad. If anybody has experienced this issue or knows what these symptoms are typical of please inform me as to what you did to solve this issue and how much it cost you to fix.
I have a 2-door 1994 Sentra Knotch-back
