RE: air intake mods

i'm looking for a way to mod my air intake. i just finished cutting out a plastic piece on my wifes mazda to let more air into the intake. i noticed the boost. on the truck the intake is mounted to the side wall of the fender. any ideals?[>:]

well best idea is to clear as much room as possible for the air to flow without removing anything. you could possibly have a metal shop bend a tube for you so that all you have to do is get a K&N short ram filter to make your own intake if you can find a pre made one anywhere. there is no real need to modify the parts that came stock because it wont do anything but let dirty air into the filter.

well at least i tried to come up with a free mod. i still think that the air intake is choking it's self. but i will look into the rerouting of the hose. thanks for the tip.

yeah np. i didnt mean to come off as a jerk if i did. it probably isnt getting enough air, alot of cars do lack in that area sometimes. but the best way is getting a short ram intake, it gets rid of alot of barriers that block the airway from getting into the engine.

what i have done with most of my cars, i buy high heat PVC piping, and rout a cold air intake the most direct way...if that helps the performance, then i begin looking for a company who makes a metal version of the similar pipe...
