rev limiting 89 nissan pulsar
 

my brother and i have been tried to figure thi s out for a while but no luck.
its a 1.6 L. about 170,000 miles and as soon as you crank it , it starts high rev/low rev .
will drive down the road, but won't get over 42 miles per hour. you can't get over 2400 rpms or it tries to kinda shut down till you are under 2400 rpms ! could anyone help or should we pull out a gun and shoot it ?![:@]

maybe but no. check for vacuum leaks around the engine and also check for intake plenumleaks, air intake tube leaks after the MAF. your problem is probably somewhere in that area that i listed.
