transmission trouble on 88 maxima
 

I am looking for help with my tranny. It is an automatic, the car wont drive in reverse anymore. I have it on jacks, and it behaves different than it appears on the ground. When I put it into rev, it acts like the engine is under a load, but the wheels don't move. Then, if I put it into neutral it starts spinning forward. It also operates in forward in drive, and 2nd, but nothing happens when I put it into 1st. I would say it somehow suddenly needs to have the linkage adjusted, but it seems to bog down the engine in reverse.
