1996 Nissan 200SX SE
Hi there folks. Found this forum whilst browsing the web looking for help on my Nissan 200SX. Hope some1 here can help me out.
I went to an auction, in Detroit 3 months ago. I picked up my 1996 Nissan 200SX SE for 900$. The car was in overall good shape, and had a couple dents on the roof - like some1 had beat the daylights out of it with a baseball bat or something. The area around the radio was vandalized too and that will be fixed at the end of this month. The car was sitting outside my house for a long time - as i didnt have time to mess with it and once i sold my other car (1994 Lincoln Mark 8) I decided to get this one going. The car had 128K miles on it, and i did the usual routine - oil change, plugs and filters and all that. The plugs and the air filter were JET BLACK.
Anyway - The check engine light was one and i decided to get to the bottom of that too. So i took it to the local autozone and had them hook up a scanner to it - and the scanner didnot pick up a reading - the guys said that the computer was not hooked up!!!! So i took it to a friends shop too - and hooked up his scanner and it was the same result - No reading on the scanner. How can this be? The car drives really well, i have put 2500 Miles in the last 20 days :P
Its just the computer thing that needs to be fixed. Also the engine temperature gauge does not work - and i wonder if this is the cause of the check engine light???
Am still wondering how can the computer be bypassed?
Hope to hear from you guys soon!!
Thanks
