Default Comprehensive Guide to the Nissan "S" Chassis

With the growing popularity of the Nissan 240sx, I thought I take this oppertunity to educate those who don't know anything about them (Drake,*cough) So here you go...By the way I stole this from Kyle (ZenkiS14) from another board, so thanks Kyle!

Ok, here is a bit of info to clear up one of the most common questions when it comes to Nissan "S" chasis cars....
Zenki means first edition, or first run etc.
Chuki means middle edition.
Kouki means last edition or last run. Typically the Kouki is the best looking of the group also.
So lets start with teh different chasis's. The most common is the S13.
S13= USDM 240sx coupe or JDM Silvia
This is the Zenki front end on the JDM silvia as it was in 89 and 90. In 1989 and 1990, both the JDM Silvia and the 180sx received teh 1.8L CA18 motor. In america, the Zenki S13 240sx recieved a SOHC KA24E

This is the S13 silvia as it would come in Japan in 1991-93. In 1991, Nissan switched from the CA18 to the SR20. The SR20 is the ever popular world famous motor found in Silvias across the world. In america the Chuki S13 240sx recieved the DOHC KA24DE.

RPS13 = USDM 240sx Hatch or JDM 180sx (notice the change in front ends and rears)
Zenki RPS13 (USDM 240sx Hatch) 1989-1990

Chuki RPS13 1991-1993 (new front)

Kouki RPS13 (not released in america) 1995-1998(new front and tails)

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Now onto my personal favorite, the S14 Chassis. All JDM S14 Silvias recieved an SR20. And all the USDM 240sx's received the KA24DE.
Here is a Zenki S14 as it appeared in America.

Here is a great shot of the difference between a Zenki and Kouki S14.
The Kouki is on the Right, and the Zenki is on the left. Both pictured with aftermarket lips.

And here is the Kouki S14 as it appeared in Japan. (bumper difference)

And then the S15 Silvia that we never got in America:

And what about those Odd-Ball ones? (all in terms of Japanese released cars never actually released by Nissan Factory)
The sileighty was a 180sx Chasis that was fitted with a Silvia front end:

The One-Via, following the trend of the sileighty, was a an S13 silvia chasis with a 180sx front end(pop up headlights). Now in america, the One-via was released as a the 240sx Coupe.

The strawberry face is any S13 or S14 chasis car that has been fitted with an S15 front end. Such as:
