you have no idea what your getting yourself into bud what kind of horsepower are you looking for and what are your plans, drag, drift, or road race etc. and how much money do you have. a stock sr20det red top swap usually cost around $4000-$5000 if you do it yourself, and an stock rb26dett swap usually cost around $12,000-$15,000 depending on what deals you find on parts and if you do it yourself laborwise. if you want a shop that can do it you can bring you car to me in Missouri and i can do the swap for you for a feeand i do wiring and oil pan modification and engine prep/performance but a stock rb26dett on a 240sx usally puts down 300-310rwhp and 270-278 rwtq and an sr20det red top usally puts down 185-190 rwhp and ??? on rwtq (i dont own any sr20 240's) but to let you know if you do have the money the RB is the way to go cause thats the only way to get 600+hp on a 240sx on pump gas unless you go with a v8 or vq30dett swap (cause those are possible to make those numbers) but the sr20det usally maxes out at around 500HP if you want more out of an sr you always have to run it on race gas and its not really streetable cause it would pretty much be a race only engine. so it really comes down to prefference i personally want my rb26 240 to get 600rwhp and still be streetable, now if you only want 300hp then you can actually just stick with the ka24de or mild build on a sr20 and you can get 300hp and if you want to just drift then just boost the ka24de or run a stock sr20 and you would have plenty of power to drift.

if your lookin for a simple project go with the sr20det swap...red top can be purchased for aroun1500 and black tops up to 2500( but beware...the engines comming out of japan right now are notorious for failure...be prepared to rebuild the engine before swaping it in if you do go red top as they are typiclly older and black tops are a bit newer and have tend to have less wear on them) the swap is simple drop in place with the exception of the wiring( wiring specialtys will do up a harness for 150) and and a few mods( email with any specific questions...have done many,MANY of these) as for the rb...lots of HP possabilities are there but until you invest 5-6k in the suspention and into the diff you wont be able to feel the difference beteen the rb and the sr. the car is just too light and will not grip well past a certain point without investin some cashola. also keep in mind everythin rb will be a bit more dificult to find and cost a tad bit more...if this is your first swap stick with the sr. it will give you a chance to learn the ins and outs of the vehicle before going for a more intense swap...then again...that rb is worth every penny! good luck
