what turbos are what?

hi there i am new here and have a quick question about the twin turbos fitted to the 300zx. i am looking to fit one to my turbocharged 2l 16v vw golf engine and i am just doing some background research before buying one. here goes:-

since it has twin turbos is one a low spool and one a high spool turbo?
if so which one?
does anyone have part numbers for them?
what is the spool rate off the turbos?
what is the rev range e.g when does it kick in and when does it max out?

if anyone can answer any off these questions i would be very grateful.just email me or post on forum.

cheers very much

RE: what turbos are what?

general inline twin turbos run in such that the smaller one spools sooner to do away with lag, and the second one, is driven by the smaller one.

The twin turbos fitted to the Z32 300ZX are Garrett T25's. Both Turbo's are identical and run off each side of the engine (ie three exhaust ports per turbo.) and not sequential. Although I cannot help you with part numbers and specs, they are relatively small but a pair on a Z32 are capable of boosting up to 18PSI quite effectively. If you're not after mamoth power gains from your 2L, I think one of these would be quite sufficient for a reliable increase of 40KW. Try Ebay for a second hand one.

first off i'm not sure that any z turbo will fit on the golf? maybe maybe but some fabrication may be involved matbe not, 2nd no there is no small and a large i don't have the part numbers but you can get them from Z1motorsports.com or ultimateZ.com. no clue what the spool rate is but those websites if contacted should answer all of your questions. As far as the rev range my 300zx N/A redlines out at 7000 and but you want to shift at about 6300 but Z1 motorsports offer the complete stage 4 engine(Longblock TT) the redlines @ 9200 rpm! if you have ever driven a Z you would know that this is unimagineable of and is capable of over 1100 bhp it would put and formula 1 car to shame in the 1/4 1/2 and 1mile by unbleivable speed not to mention it would make 454 v8 with straight pipes sound like pop rock! N e ways it just depends on how your engine is tuned.
