1996 Nissan Altima Died on me!!
OK, here is what happened. I was driving home yesterday and the engine just stopped. I thought my float was stuck so I ran out of gas. After adding gas to it, I still couldn't start it. I checked to see if the pump was working and gas was getting to the fuel injectors and it is. I then took out a spark plug to see if I am getting spark. I wasn't getting spark from the plug so I checked the wire from the ignition coil to the distributer and still no spark. I bought a new distributer cap and wire and still doesn't work. I checked the resistence in the coil and to see if it is getting power and everything checked out according to the Haynes manual. I found some white residue in the plug where the wire connects into the distributer from the coil. Could the ignition module gone bad or is it something else? Can someone please help me? My brain hurts from thinking about this!

Might be the timing chain - make sure the cams are turning, then check the dist rotor with #1 at TDC.

It was the Camshaft position sensor. Once I changed the distributer the car started up just fine. Thanks for all the advice
