95 nissan altima help fuel pump went out

well my exhaust is in the way totaly welded in my way ..so i cant get the gas tank off ..someone suggested an electric fuel pump that i could mount under the hood ...is this true ???

You don't need to drop the tank (replaced 2 of these already) - remove the back seat and there is a round cover over where the fuel pump and fuel level sender is located.
