Coincidental?Rough Idle in Park and shifter tuff to get into Park

Scenario: Engine idles rough in Park and Neutral but is smooth as silk in any other gear at any speed.
It seems at about the same time the shifter (transmission is an automatic) became real hard to put back into Park. (this maybe totally coincidental)
It goes from Park to Drive easily but shifting back into Park there is a gradual increase in resistance and effort to get it into Park as if something was binding.
I went underneath but with all the cross member I cannot see anything. And to be honestly I’m not sure what I’m looking for, a linkage or cable.

The rough idle was one of the reasons I gave it a tune up.
New plugs NGK's
Dis Cap
(no new rotor) Kind of dumb but they didnt have the $4 dollar part so I was going to wait to c what the other new parts would accomplish

Fuel filter
Air filter
Oil change
89 Octane fuel

I should add that on the shifter problem, that with the front end off the ground the shifter works just fine.

Do the rough idle in Park and the shift issue have anything in common?
Any body have idea for a fix on either issue?

RE: Coincidental?Rough Idle in Park and shifter tuff to get into Park

Hard shift on the shifter is the plastic groument that is inside shift cable arm that connets to the tranny arm is cracked. Or it could also be the cracked groument is the result of what ever is causing the siff shifting

Still fighting rough idle in park and Neutral
