crankshaft position sensor -- DIY job?

hey all - new to the forum.

anyone know anything about the crankshaft position sensor on an '03 Altima? i've got one that i suspect is bad and i'd like to replace it myself if possible....anyone know if that's a do-it-yourself type job or more of a "no way in hell you should do that yourself" type?

also tried looking for a used one but couldn't find anything....would it be called anything else that anyone knows of?

much appreciated....thanks in advance for any replies.

There is a recall that replaces your cam and crank sensors.... call your local dealer and see if your vehicle is covered under that..... if not it's an easy job.

hey, thanks for the reply.

called them this morning and this one has no outstanding recalls. so dead end there, unfortunately.

do you have any ideas of other names for the part that i need? i'm trying to buy the part online and can't find anything related to crank sensor, position sensor, cam sensor, or anything similar.....any ideas?

thank you again for any replies and help...

I am a nissan parts specialist at a major nissan dealer in Virginia, if you need anything just send me a pm or email me at brinster@hallauto.com Crank sensor would run about $40 shipped depending on where you are located.
