Might sound like a stupid question, but I'm new to the whole Nissan world. In addition, I'm not too in the loop as far as modern engine advances. I was looking at some Nissan Altima's online, and came across a 2002 with 236,000 kms. To me, that sounds like it's almost the end of the road.

So I'm wondering what your input is on how long these engines/transmissions are good for before everything starts going bad.

nissan engines easly do 200000 miles but it depends on the previous owner and if he took care of the car

 

As the previous poster said, it's much more important how the car was treated. If they have service records for all the maintenance, and it all seems kosher, and they don't seem like the type to run the engine ragged, then it might be a good deal. But make sure that you don't pay as much, because that is still a LOT of miles/kms.
