poping sound in steering
 

07 altima has started a poping sound when you turn.....have checked everything from tie rods to struts and nothing is loose. cv joints not the problem and the sound is coming from the fire wall at the gas pedal.....has any one else seen this.....have racked my brain and I am stumped......one suggestion was the steering linkage u-joint.....any help would be great.....:):)

does it occur after you start the engine or just hear the sound while running or driving???

it will do it if you are driving or sitting still if you turn the steering from side to side.....jacked it up with no pressure on front end and no sound at all when turning the steering......
