what size rims?

hello,
new to the forum. I have an altima2.5SL (2007) in blackand I'm looking to get some new rims. I have 15% tinting all the way around (except the windshield)
I'm thinking 18-19"
but I'm not sure whether to get black or chrome. I do live in illionois, so i'm wondering if the salt during the winter will destroy them?
would i have to go back to my stock rims for the winter?
I'm clicking around on tirerack.com and I see a lot of rims that i like, but when i click to view it "on my car" the 18" look tiny and the 19" look really big

I'm also looking for some cheap horsepower...
I've had good luck with k&n air filters in the past, I'm wondering if the 2.5 will perform much better with this brand of filters?

BTW:
i have tried searching for other threads about both of these, and i just cant find exact answers to my questions.

Also if you have any pictures of your rims that would be very helpful

thanks,
Alex

RE: what size rims?

You are really not going to notice much from the K&N filter replacement, but the car will appreciate it. Plus you can clean it so you never have to buy another one. To answer your rim question it is really going to be about personal preference.... at our dealership we sell to a large crowd who enjoy 20inch chrome wheels. Any size up to 20 will work without rubbing.....but if you are looking for performance and luxury out of your Altima I wouldn't go higher than the 19. Keep in mind everything bigger than an 18 is going to start giving you a harsher ride....... hope this helps.

Yeah, that's why I ruled out getting 20's.
Does anybody have any pictures with 18's or 19's? I'm just trying to see how they look as far as size.
Tirerack.com has them on the car, but like i said its just hard to tell from the small pic and the wheels arent fully to size.

Look up a pic of an Altima SER.... they have 18's stock, should give you an idea.

RE: what size rims?

yeah, the 18's look about right
Thanks for that, I've read about SER's but I never knew what the heck they were. lol.

I'm on this site...Lakeshorewheelandtire.com...and I found a few different rims that I like; all of which are under 600, some under 500 for all 4. When I click the button to price it with tires, the price goes to like $1200. I'm just wondering if it's even reasonable to spend 6-700 for tires?
LOL, this is my first car and I have like 8,000 miles on it so I've never bought tires before...
