97 nissan xe pickup: drain for coolant on engine block?

I want to drain and replace the coolant in my radiator and can't seem to locate the drain plug "on the left side of the engine block". According to the manual this needs to be removed along with the drain valve on the radiator itself. Would the left side be as when facing the engine? thanks a lot.

Thanks for responding Patrick. I should have been more specific. The coolant drain is not engine mounted. The owner's manual directs that in addition to the valve drain on the radiator there is a "drain plug" on the "left side of the engine block" which must also be removed in order to drain the coolant. I suppose I could have a faulty manual. . . the oil drain plug does happen to be on the left side of the engine block.
