o2 sensor not fitting?
 

i'm very new to replacing parts by either doing it myself or buy the part and find a shop that won't charge you a leg and an arm for labor. in the past i went through dealerships with their $$$ charges.

just recently i noticed that my exhaust manifold was severely rusted and cracked and went ahead and bought a replacement online and gladly paid a family owned shop who was very fair with what they charged me for labor (under $100). it was a dorman manifold that was supposed to fit perfectly into a 1998 nissan frontier. and even though it did, now my problem is that the oxygen sensor that connected to the old manifold is too small for the new manifold's opening. the shop didn't try to sell me anything else and even left it up to me to find an adapter of some sort. i have emailed the ebay store that i bought it from and is waiting for their reply.

my question is: are there reducers? or adapters for this? i'm trying to fit a 3/8" o2 sensor into the new manifold's 5/8" opening.

unless there issomething thati'm missing?

sounds like you got the wrong manifold on your motor cause it should be able to swap right in, but you can probably take it to a exhaust shop and have them take out the o2 bung and install the correct size bung or but a bolt in the biggerbung and drill a new hole for the smaller o2 sensor bung and weld it in.

yea, i think that's what happened. the ebay store that i bought it from said something about i bought a manifold for a rear wheel drive. i guess the oxygen sensor's size are different??? [&:]

i'm ending up having to buy a stock replacement, which hindsight tells me is what i should have done in the first place. [:@]

Man I know I am coming in on this a little late, but you could just buy a black iron pipe reducer and put it right in. About 30 cents.

they sell o2 bungs at part stores/ exhaust shops that can be welden in on steel exhaust but in this case it would be better to just purchase the oem o2 sensor
