1995 maxima question

My 1995 maxima would crank fine but not start. Computer thru code of "Serial Comm Link Malfunction". Book says its a short or ground between emc and a/t control box or the wiring harness. This problem just started out of the blue and the only way to get it started is to pump the heck out of the accelerator, if it starts at all. Fuel injection shouldn't have to pump the pedal like that. My question is where is the a/t control box located and has anyone every experienced this? This car only has 49,000 miles on it and this is its first trouble ever. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thank you.
