2 questons about a 1993 maxima
 

I just bought a 1993 nissan maxima with 50,000 miles from an old guy for a daily driver. The car is primo except for 2 things.

1. Lack of power when I take off, engine runs ruff and the exhaust smells rich. When I hit the freeway she flys!! But takeoff just sucks, NO POWER.

2. When I put the car in drive the transmission dosent engage right away.

How should I fix these things??

Probably wasn't driven very much for only having 50k miles.... I would take it to get a tranny flush and engine flush.

Acomplete service is a good idea too if the previous owner hadnt done it.

Hmm. Sounds like my baby, stinkin sick like yours when I got it.

If its with VGE (distributor), change wires, cap, plugs.

Can also be stickin injectors with gunk: use cleaner and/or drive 10 minutes at 5k rpm...

lol. i love that idea. drive for 10 minutes at 5k rmps. with an auto tranny... well. ud be goin pretty fast.

Give hi rpm's twice a year ... no need to use the gold priced injector cleaner.

Alas no autobahn here. Can be done on 1st gear :(
