97 Maxima no spark after starter r&r

My '97 Maxima 104 kmiles would not turn over despite good battery, clean cable connections & 12.6 volts at battery. After putting in a rebuilt starter it turns over like new but won't start. With a sparkplug pulled & grounded I get no spark when cranking. I've triplechecked the plug connections that I undid to remove the airflow sensor/intake. The sparkplug was wet with fuel when I took it out. Puzzled!

The coilpacks are driven directly from ECU. Either theres wiring/connector/gnd problem -or- ECU is dead. If all coilpacks are silent, ECU or its pwr sply has problems.

Start by measuring supply voltage at ECU, cleanin contacts. Check page 5,10 and 14 http://www.cardomain.com/ride/748507/14

Thanks for the promptinfo. I do havebattery voltageat the ECM terminal 24 and groundand am trying to find and check the engine grounds. Its just a bit crowded under the hood.

Thanks for the prompt info. I do have battery voltage at ECM pin 24 to ground per the manual. I'm trying to check the engine grounds next.

'Loosing' some critical inputs will cause the ECU to drop into safemode. This makes a 2200rpme ceiling, but engine still works, one can limp home.

I guess that in some cases 'no input' will also cause ECU to 'kill engine'. That could be (?) after campos signal and some other is missin simultaneously. Check verify all the input signals... if theyre ok, then possibly ECU is dead.

Run ECU self diag, it just might give some meaningful info.

About ECU pins: I guess u already noticed that the ECU etc pin lists on my cardomain page fit for VGE 89-94 models, so u have to dig your -97 model pin numbers from the manual.

check your crank angle sensor (if it has a cam angle sensor check that too) cause thats what signals the ecu to fire the coils, and double check all the plugs that you might of unplugged or hit while replacing the starter cause i believe the crank angle sensor is around the starter area.
