Any trick to removing alternator plug?

A 1990 Maxima - as my login name suggests. Removing the alternator from the car is easy right up until I get to the plug/socket from the car's harness to the alternator. It's likely been in there for many years so its hard to remove. Does anyone have any tricks they use to remove that plug from the alternator socket? I don't want to destroy it.

Thanks,

First spray in WD-40, CRC or whatever suitable spray. The lock pin (on same side as other connectors) has to be pushed/kept in; half of that may have been disappeared into the wind... Prying /jacking up with smallest screwdrivers simultaneously from both sides may free the connector. If it has already been heated/melted, I wish good heatin luck... Your e-mail address is "no-reply" so not sure if you wanted a reply or not, but just in case - thank you. I sprayed some penetrant on it, wiggled it back and forth, and finally located my channel locks for a go at it. I have read, and your response to me seemed to indicate, some kind of pin to press on. Did not see that but there was a plastic clip on the side. Have never removed one of these before I was a little nervous. I think the penetrant did the most good.

thanks!

Plastic clip might be better word ... locking the connector. These may sit veeery tight. Workin e-mail addr is on that link - page one.
