i got a 2001 new maxima GLE. just got this problem yesterday night. the back brake light wouldn't turn on when the engine is stated. it only work when ur in park and pressing down on brakes.

 

you need to pull back the inside compartment its like a thin cardboard compartment and change the bulb. take out the old one and bring it in the auto store to find a new one then put in the new one. same thing happend to me when i got my 2000 SE
