Don't fix it less it broken. Not cheap, If one fails hopefully you will get a specific cylinder misfire. If ignition signal primary is the code you may have to replace all six!

[sm=americanasmiley.gif]on some cars with timing belts its a sure thing you the timing belts need to be replaced at a given time. so i guess with these coils its not that way you just replace them as they go bad, how likley is it that the coils will go bad? is this something that is common with the v6`s ?

They will fail by the mile. Its sales created by design: electronics installed into hottest engine spot w/o any cooling, creates $weet aftersales revenue... One degree C temp increase halves component age.
V6 is not the issue.

I would not say designed to fail. I only replace coils on maybe 5 out of approx 3,120 cars a year. O2 sensors on the other hand, too many to count.

Everything thing on the car in designed to fail ... every part has a built in approx. mileage.... sorry.:(

Good point; but we should also here get US sales chart$ to compare

My bad guess is, If it becomes possible, future coilpacks will be installed in$ide exhaustpipe also :( ... hopefully new electric carzars will survive to destroy this business line alltogether.

O2 environment is not comparable. (btw. its ridiculous 1V signal level shows that technology is in its infancy)
