Does my 1999 Nissan Maxima have a bose system or not?
I have a stock 1999 Pearl White Nissan Maxima and was trying to figure out what kind of speakers I have. I have heard that some were made with bose and some without. Keep in mind this is not a gle, se, or anything. The reason I am asking is because I plan on buying a new headunit, preferably Alpine or Pioneer and am not sure if it is even compatibile with bose. Is there anyway you can tell without removing the door panels and physically reading the speakers?

RE: Does my 1999 Nissan Maxima have a bose system or not?
If you had the BOSE system, you would know it. Your rear deck speakers and side door speakers would have the BOSE logo on them. If you have a Stock 1999, then you are going to have the cheap "paper" domed speakers like I had. I just replaced my entire soundsystem. I got the Alpine Head unit with MP3,WMA playback, JBL 12's, 6 1/2's, and 6x9's, with a 500 watt amp. surprisingly, with the box in the truck there isn't any rattle at all. So, for your dilema, I would assume that you do not have the BOSE system, and then press on with the new Head unit. If you install it yourself, then you will know for sure when you remove the side panels. The stock speakers are Clarion...decent quality, but not enough power. If you take it to a local installer, they will be able to find you compatible speakers and heads unit. Evidently, the BOSE equipped maxima's are a little tricky....
