Engine Acceleration Knock

When I accelerate, stress the engine or reach high rpm my engine has a serious rapid metal engine knock. Mechanic says that oil is not reaching all areas and knock is from timing chain and tensioners. When I change the oil or add oil thinner the knock is quieter. After 1000 miles it starts to get louder. I have 70k on a 2003 SE 6 speed (my 3rd Max) and I keep it in good shape and use premium gas. I need some ideas. Thanks!

RE: Engine Acceleration Knock

it might be time to replace your timing chain and tensioners if thats where the noise is coming from cause that when your sopposed to replace you timing chain when its starts to make noise. and also premuim is not required for your car unless you have alot of engine modifications. just run good quality gas like shell, mobil, 76,bp dont run junk gas like ampm, caseys etc. but fix the chain and switch over to a full synthetic oil like mobile1, royal purple, amsoil, redline etc. and that should help prolong your engine life. my 97 sentra when it had 145K on it, it still ran like it was new and ive compared it to another sentra that ran basic cheap oil and it sounded like ass. well good luck
