Have TROUBLE with 2000 Maxima, Some Advice Please?

Ok well I will start with I have a Maxima five speed with 91k miles. Car has been very well taken care of. I have been noticing the tacometer bobing up and down between 4 and 8 hundred rpms, and a couple times in the past few days the car has staled when comming to a stop or slowing down. If anyone has any idea what this might be? Also I do live in new england and it has been 10 degrees but i doubt that has anything to do with it, just thought i would throw that out there also. Another thing Do you think I would be better off taking my car to a nissan dealer to have major repairs or just the local mechanic? I have done all minor repairs and tune ups myself. so never brought it anywhere before. I know the dealer would be more than likely alot more expensive but as long as my car is properly fixed I really dont care. I would greatly appreciate any responses and give you a thanks in advance.

RE: Have TROUBLE with 2000 Maxima, Some Advice Please?

Common problems:
- Clogged IACV valve can do that. After 60k miles, it is dirty. Easy DIY cleanup. DIY or ask specifially this cleanup, one hour work maximum, no spares but cleaner.
- Coilpacks start to wear out at that mileage, poor spark= poor pwr. Eapecially warm engine.
- MAF. Broken or dirty, may be cleaned. Cold & warm engine; idle roam.
- TPS sensor, may be cleaned, TPS replacement is relatively cheap. Affects cold engine.

The model is older, part locations/size/looks differ, functionally same.
