Lowcompression in Cylinder #1
Car was running rough, so took it to the mechanic. Compression test, dry, showed the number one cylinder had 30 psi, while others were in the normal range. He believes it's a burned valve. He said there was smoke. He thinks it could be driven to my house, an hour and a half away.
The options are: Sell the car, pull the head and repair it, or find a good engine and replace mine. How much work is it for me to pull the head, diagnose the problem, and fix it? Is there a suitable engine that could be easily swapped into the car? Thanks for any help, Randy 1998 Nissan Maxima 160,000 miles Automatic Six cylinders (five working) |
