plug in foot well

hi i have found a small round plug in the foot well of my 95 3.0l. what dose this plug do?

Not std feature, maybe add on for earphones - follow the wire(s).

the wires (there are 2 off them) go into the main loom and the plug is not a jack plug. i am sure its not for ear phones as the socket is under the bonnet leaver.
