replacing belts and harmonic balancer
I have a 1997 Nissan Maxima and recently it started to make a ticking sound, so I took it to a shop to look at it and they said that the harmonic balancer needed to be replaced. What was happening was that the harmonic balancer was wobbling. So I took it home wanting to save some money and do it myself, and When I looked at it again I realized the belts were completely shot. So I'm going to replace the belts now and if that doesnt fix the problem buy a new harmonic balancer. What I need to know is how to replace the belts and how to tighten the harmonic balancer.

RE: replacing belts and harmonic balancer
The crankshaft may be locked from flywheel teeth (manual; gear/brakes on) or pulley kept in place using ol belt and tongs.
