Default "Rapid Tire Deflation" Noise - Brake problem??

Hi,

I've had my '02 SE (56k miles on it now) since the end of August '05, and I've come across an odd noise. Whenever I get the car moving for the first time after starting it up (warm or cold), I'm hearing a strange "rapid tire deflation" noise! The first time I heard this noise, I actually got out of the car to see if I had a flat. It happens no matter how hard or soft I accelerate (in 2WD or 4WD) regardless of where the front wheels are pointed. I've also noticed that the headlights dim suddenly (places a load on the electrical system briefly) when this noise happens, and return to normal as soon as its done (1 second, if that much). This noise, for the first time, actually sounded just as I took my foot off the brake to pull out of my driveway last week...brake problem, perhaps? I have not seen any decrease in braking performance.

Can anyone help?? Any diagnosis? Thanks a lot!
