05 Pathfinder fuel door wont stay shut

I have an 05 pathfinder se. I love it overall but the gas door is really getting on my nerves. It wont stay closed when I am driving and the spring thing keeps braking so that it wont stay open when pumping gas. I have taken it back to the dealer to be fixed and now it is broken again. Has there been a recall? Is anyone else having this problem. The only way the door will stay shut is if the doors are locked obviously.

I have an 05 Pathfinder SE also. Although the spring has never broken on mine, sometimes the door doesnt stay shut. The retainer strap on the gas cap gets a little kinked up at times. When it does, it will kinda act like a spring itself and put pressure on the door. I simply adjust the kinks out of the strap and reshut the door.

Had the same problem with my '05 LE. Had the dealer fix it 3 times. Easy fix or just lock the doors before you start driving and it keeps it from flapping.

I just bought an 05 Pathfinder LE and mine does the same exact thing. Are you saying that if you lock the doors whien you start it up, the gas cap door will not open? If so. Dmn good find coming in here huh?
