Blower motor resistor needs replacing.

The blower motor resistor on my 1997 Pathfinder needs replacing (blower only work on highestsetting). How do I locate the resistor? I'm told that it is on the heater core housing. Is it in the engine compartment or under the dash? Would truly appreciate any help. Thanks, Griff.
