instrument illumination problem

i have a 2001 pathfinder le model that the illumination on my instrument cluster is intermittent. one half will go out for a bit then the other will follow but the first comes back on. i have hit the dash a few times but it doesnt seem to have any effect. anyone else experience similar problems

not yet, I haven't owned a Pathfinder le model some of my friends does but doesn't same problem like that.
