Default Noisy Engine

Hi,..All. I recently bought a 1995 Pathfinder 3.0 V6, 82000 mi. Very good condition, Runs excellent. New Timing belt, waterpump, all new drive belts installed 11/2/06. Engine top end (it seems) is very noisy at start up when cold. Loud valve train. Rocker arms? There is also a high pitched metallic squeal/squeak in the mix. Sounds like all noise is sourced at the valve covers. Rocker/tapping noise quiets down substantially as engine is warmed,..but is always faintly there. The squeek/squeal disappears. I'm using 10/40 Valvoline Max Life. Any suggestions on an oil brand viscosity weight that is better suited to this engine? Or an oil additive I can use to help this problem? Are these symptoms common to this engine/year? Engine runs excellent otherwise. Thanks, Prestar

5W30 Maxlife is more what you should be using.... adding a bottle of KREX goes a long way too.

Sometimes people mistake exhaust manifold noise for valve train noise... check to see if one or more of the manifold bolts are broken...
