Are you talking about running an amplifier 8 or 4 gauge cable from the battery to an amp in your trunk? If so, I ran mine from the battery side, along the side of the rail where the hood lays on and then down between the firewall and the car. From there I created then ran the cable through a hole in the rubber sleeve that protects my factory installed cables running between the door and the car. It took some fishing, but I got the cable into the car, then I ran it under my carpet, along the side of the car ( removing then reinstalling some factory trimming were required, but everything is snap on/off these days so that wasn't much of an issue) then the cable ran under my rear seat into the trunk... that easy.
As far as running the cable under the car. That is probably the worst thing you could do, especially if you plan on driving the car. Just remember to protect the cable from pinch points and the elements and you should be fine installing it as I described above.

It's simple, use the rubber sleeve that's in the door jam that holds the wiring for the door. I ran my 4 gauge wire through there and had no probs. If you need, I can take pics if you want.
