Howdy patty_ost:
WD 40 is almost the same as diesel fuel - I never use it for lubricant for such applications- is OK for breaking nuts or typical home stuff
Today I will be taking the sunroof apart - clean - moly gear lube is a better choice- what you want to avoid is something that will attrack dirt and stuff - silicon is a great lube - but is very sticky - i never use it in open / exposed applications
in case you ever get a chance - clean a smokers car - I have to replace the ignition switch assembly as the ash has gotten in to ignition and it will stick - I cant get car started
enjoy weeks end
cheers

howdy Folks:
An update :
managed to figure out the problem - sunroof motor now farmed out to Siemens - and the main drive stationary gear is cracked along with the next trailing gear - called the company that makes the gears - have to call Germany to get more info on the gears - managed to get a used Sunroof motor for 100 w/ shipping
If anyone has any questions on the job - feel free to PM me
Cheers
