Engine temperature

Woeking on an 04 Sentra. My scanner says the engine is 170 degrees. Sounded low so I pulled the thermostat. When I removed it it was open and the engine was not very hot. So I looked the thermostat up and it's supposed to be 170 degree. Almost every car I see has a 195 degree thermostat. What temperature should a 1.8 L engine run at?

The qg18de (1.8L)eng runs at 170 F.
