Motor Swap

Motor Swap
hey guys, first off I just got my sentra about three weeks ago and I absolutly love it. I have a 99 sentra GXE with the 1.6 and I was wondering how difficult it would be to swap out the stock motor for a sr20de? second question, would the stock tranny mount up the same with the new motor or do I need to get a different tranny as well?

RE: Motor Swap
well i would hit up www.jgycustoms.com cause i was just pricing the bluebird sr20det swap and the total came out to $7,000 and that came with the sr20de engine harness, reprogramed jwt ecu, front mount intercooler kit, engine/tranny mounts, sr20de fwd trans w/ lsd, shot peened and welded case to hold up to 300 hp, and high horsepower sr20de driveaxles, and last but not least a 30k bluebird sr20det, and you need all of that to do the ga16de to sr20de-t swap. check them out and get some prices and they also do swap services if you want to bring your car to them. oh jgy said you can use your stock ga16de ecu as long as it get reprogramed by jim wolf technology. and no the 1.6 trans will not bolt up to a sr20de-t so you have to junk that when you do the swap. me personally i dont have that kind of money so im saving up for a 95-98 240sx se and do the rb25det or rb26dett swap. well good luck.

RE: Motor Swap
well ive been thinking about makin my car a ga16de-t by throwing the hot shot performance turbo kit for the ga16de. and yea it can only put out about 250whp but the car is so light it could run the high 12's low 13's in the 1/4 mile. theres a guy out here in the street racing scene that has a honda cive hatchback with the stock 1.6L sohc with a turbo kit and hes only putin out 215hp and hes beating suburu wrx stis' and had close race with a 400hp o5'gto. check out the project cars on 1.6 sentras/200sx on www.nissanperformancemag.com and tell me what you think. cause if enough people that push the limits of the ga16de the aftermarket companys might start build more for our cars like stroker kits, intake manifolds, throttle bodys, fuel rails etc. but yes the sr20det is an awsome motor with alot of potential but when it comes to the all mighty dollar its just too damm exspensive of a swap and then you would just rather buy a 240sx with a sr20det already in it for the same amount that it cost to do the 1.6 to 2.0 swap on a fwd sentra/200sx.

RE: Motor Swap
that ain't no ****. to do the actual swap is unreal for price plus you gotta find someone to swap it for you if your like me and not that saavy when it comes to cars. I learning new things with this car and I love it a lot. I just wish i had done a little more research before I actual bought the car. if I would have known it was going to be as tough as it has been to find parts for the 1.6 I would have waited till I could find a 2.0 for a good price. hopefully we can get more people interested in the 1.6 so like you said, so more people will start making parts for the 1.6 because it is a Damm good car!
